Studio production Unit 23/4: pitch mark scheme

Have they:
Given lots of examples about how the audience will be targeted?
Discussed why the audience will like the programme?

Used lots of visuals to give us an idea of what it will look like and to be up the things they are talking about?

Given lots of examples about the genre and why their product is quirky/creative or important?

P2: in their pitch learners will provide a description of the proposal in which all relevant parts of the project will be covered though not completely. For example, notes on target audiences will be provided but will not be informed by research or understanding of who the target audience actually is or what they will enjoy about it. Evidence will show a basic understanding of technical terminology but learners will generally be unsure will make fairly frequent mistakes. The overall effect of the pitch will be to demonstrate a rough idea on the project and that it could work, but not exciting. When questioned they will not have any answer or be able to think on their feet and provide information.

M2: in their pitch learners will talk about their ideas showing how or why they will do what they intend to do. Ideas will have been developed through effective research and learners will be able to discuss in detail the needs and wants of the target audience. There tone of voice and enthusiasm will be generally appropriate, but at times the presentation will falter. Questions will be responded to but we might not get full answers. The audience will be left with the overall impression that this is a workable project and that there is a good chance that a successful product will result from it.

D2: in their pitch learners will present their project in a clear way and with enthusiasm. Ideas will have been thoroughly thought out and there will be clear research about how the programme is going to work. The target audience will be made really clear and they will have specific examples from their programme about how that audience will be addressed. The assessor will be left with the overall impression that this is a project based on a creative idea and solid research, with there being every chance of a highly successful product resulting from it

unit 24 podcast FINAL MARKS 1/2/15

All additions will need to be added in text form to your script NOT in a podcast
P1: learners will give a factual description of a writer’s role within the commissioning process, typically of the hierarchical structures and the process of script development. All aspects of the description will be substantially covered, accurate and relevant. Evidence will show a basic understanding of technical terminology but learners will generally be unsure about this vocabulary and will make fairly frequent mistakes when they do use it.

M1: learners will explain a writer’s role in the commissioning process providing examples, from existing media products or companies and talking about this process in such a way as to show why things are the way they are. Relevant examples will be given to support what is said, but learners will not elucidate these examples to show how they illustrate the point they support. Generally, their response will demonstrate a good understanding of the wider context within which a writer works and the responsibilities that this role entails. Learners will use technical vocabulary for the most part correctly, but may make mistakes or be unsure about
usages at times.

D1: learners will discuss the writer’s role in the commissioning process in detail, with reference to the positive or negative aspects of this position and elucidating upon the examples they give. Fuller and more extensive explanation, better application of examples, and provision of argument to support points made, plus the higher quality expression, will discriminate between this grade and the merit. Technical vocabulary will be secure and used correctly and confidently at all times.
